Introduction to DSCSA Portal

Under the U.S. Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA), Authorized Trading Partners (ATPs) in the pharmaceutical supply chain are required to exchange serialization-level product data in order for prescription drugs to be bought and sold. Manufacturers face a range of requirements under the law, including the need to respond to verification and trace requests. In many cases, these requests may arise from “indirect” trading partners and regulatory authorities, with response times required under the law in as little as one business day. As with any supply chain operation, data exceptions also occur and require collaboration with trading partners in order to ensure the flow of product.

The XATP Magic Portal makes it easy for manufacturers to receive and manage requests and reports from direct and indirect ATPs including pharmacies, wholesalers, and third-party logistics providers. It includes 4 core workflows for hosts and guests:

  • ATP validation & access. Under the DSCSA, all trading partners must be “authorized” with appropriate state and/or federal registrations. The XATP Magic Portal makes it easy for guests to demonstrate ATP status, including support for OCI-compliant verifiable credentials. Guests are provided with the appropriate level of workflow access. Learn more.
  • Verification request. With the XATP Magic Portal, guests can verify product at the package level.
The Portal integrates seamlessly with the Verification Router Service (VRS) for autonatic positive responses. Failed or non-verified requests appear as tickets in the XATP Dashboard. Learn more.
  • Trace request. Under the DSCSA, all trading partners are required to provide transaction information and a transaction statement when engaging in certain transactions. Under certain circumstances, a trading partner or authority may request this information. All requests appear as tickets in the XATP Dashboard. Learn more.
  • Exception report. For any DSCSA-related shipment or data receipt issues that a customer may encounter, the XATP Magic Portal lets them report these issues. All requests appear as tickets in the XATP Dashboard. Learn more.

The Portal can be configured with your brand colors, logo, custom subdomain, and more. For non-validated guests, you have the ability to set “courtesy request” limits (e.g. a non-validated pharmacist might be limited to only 3 verification requests per year).
