Introduction to XATP

Under the U.S. Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA), Authorized Trading Partners (ATPs) in the pharmaceutical supply chain are required to exchange product compliance information, including drug verification and tracing data. These exchanges of information often take place between “indirect” trading partners with no prior business relationship and varying levels of sophistication, as well as between trading partners and state and federal authorities. The full set of DSCSA requirements come into effect with the end of the stabilization period on November 27th, 2024.

XATP by LedgerDomain is a secure identity and messaging platform that drives DSCSA compliance. As members of the Open Credentialing Initiative (OCI) and the Partnership for DSCSA Governance (PDG), LedgerDomain supports the use of W3C-specified Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) and Verifiable Credentials (VCs), GS1 messaging standards and data attributes, and open standards to achieve safe and secure credentialing and information exchange between ATPs.

At the heart of the platform is LedgerDomain’s XATP Digital Wallet, which manages your ATP credentials and checks incoming messages to secure credentialed DSCSA applications, including product tracing and enhanced verification. This powers a wide range of workflows including:

  • ATP Status Confirmation. Exchange credentials with direct and indirect trading partners to meet compliance requirements. Learn more.
  • Credentialed Enhanced Verification. Integration with VRS providers for secure verification of drug packages, supporting saleable returns and suspect & illegitimate product investigations. Learn more.
  • Fallback Email Verification. With secure human-in-the-loop responses by manufacturers not yet on the VRS, LedgerDomain unlocks 100% coverage for dispensers and wholesalers.
  • Interoperable TracingSecure credentialed emails combined with PDG’s open tracing schema allow stakeholders to request and respond with confidence. Learn more.
